Chris Camozzi and Joe Riggs fight Sunday night at UFC Fight Night 83 in the Consol Energy Center.
Chris Camozzi enters this fight with a 22-10 record and has won 41 percent of his fights by decision. Camozzi has split his last six fights and is coming off a August win over Tom Watson. Camozzi is averaging 4.05 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 44 percent. Camozzi is averaging 0.27 takedowns with an accuracy percentage of 15 percent. Camozzi is a very aggressive striker who lands a high number of punches and is defending nearly 57 percent of his strikes as well. Camozzi is dangerous if he can fight standing up and put that 76-inch reach to good use. The downside with Camozzi is that he doesn’t have much of a grappling game and can be in trouble if this fight goes to the canvas. This will be Camozzi’s first fight in Pennsylvania.
USA TODAY Sports
Joe Riggs enters this fight with a 41-16 record and is winning 71 percent of his fights by knockout. Riggs has won six of his last eight fights and is coming off a September win over Ron Stallings. Riggs is averaging 2.42 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 51.4 percent. Riggs is averaging 2.46 takedowns with an accuracy percentage of 55.2 percent. Riggs is a true power striker who has won five of his last eight fights by knockout. Riggs is also comfortable on the canvas, as he has a background in wrestling and 16 submission victories under his belt. The concern with Riggs for this fight is his lack of reach, as 70 inches gives his opponent a six inch advantage. This will be Riggs’ first fight in Pennsylvania.
This is an interesting fight and could be where we see our first upset in terms of the odds. Camozzi doesn’t want this fight to turn into a grappling match, but Riggs has the power to end this thing if he gets the fight standing up. Riggs is more than capable of winning this fight and in terms of the heavy plus money, I like him seven more.
Give me Diesel in a nice upset victory.
