Gegard Mousasi and Thales Leites fight Saturday at UFC Fight Night in The O2 Arena.
Gegard Mousasi enters this fight with a 37-6-2 record and is winning 57 percent of his fights by knockout. Mousasi has split his last six fights and is coming off a September loss to Uriah Hall. Mousasi is averaging 3.42 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 50.7 percent. Mousasi is averaging 1.6 takedowns with an accuracy percentage of 64.1 percent. Mousasi is one of the better defenders in terms of strikes, but he is coming off his first loss by knockout of his career. The good news is that Mousasi is great in making adjustments, as he’s never lost two straight fights. Mousasi must put his improved ground game to good use here. This will be Mousasi’s first fight in London.

Thales Leites enters this fight with a 25-5 record and is winning 56 percent of his fights by submission. Leites has won five of his last six fights and is coming off a July loss to Michael Bisping. Leites is averaging 2.17 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 38.8 percent. Leites is averaging 2.29 takedowns with an accuracy percentage of 31.2 percent. Leites is very aggressive with the takedowns and knows how to end a fight quickly when he gets his opponent on the canvas. Leites also has an impressive reach of 78 inches, making his strikes tough to defend as well. The concern with Leites is that he will struggle if he’s not able to take the fight to the matt, as he’s a grappler and wrestler at heart. This is Leites’ second fight in London.
This should be an entertaining fight between two guys who are well established. However, Mousasi is the more balanced fighter between the two, as he can throw accurate strikes while also being comfortable enough to wrestle his way to a win.
Leites is certainly no slouch and will have his chances, but Mousasi is the safer bet and should bounce back once again from a tough loss.
