The Line: Valentina Shevchenko +135 / Amanda Nunes -155 Over/Under: 2.5 See the Latest Odds
Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko fight late Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Amanda Nunes enters this fight with a 11-4 record and has won 82 percent of her fights by knockout. Nunes has won four of her last five fights and is coming off a August win over Sara McMann. Nunes is averaging 4.17 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 51.3 percent. Nunes is averaging 2.32 takedowns with an accuracy percentage of 41.6 percent. Nunes is a knockout machine who lands powerful and accurate strikes. However, Nunes is also fairly comfortable on the canvas as well and just picked up her second submission win in her last fight. The concern with Nunes is that she will take hits and has been knocked out twice in her career. This will be Nunes’ second fight in Las Vegas.

Valentina Shevchenko enters this fight with a 12-1 record and has won 42 percent of her fights by submission. Shevchenko has won her last five fights and is coming off a December win over Sarah Kaufman. Shevchenko is averaging 2.13 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 72.7 percent. Shevchenko is averaging four takedowns with an accuracy percentage of 44.4 percent. Shevchenko looked sharp in her UFC debut and was extremely accurate with her strikes. Shevchenko is a balanced fighter who can strike, grapple and has a strong background in kickboxing as well. The concern for Shevchenko is her lack of experience on this level and the fact this is the biggest fight of her career. This will be Shevchenko’s first fight in Las Vegas.
This will be a very interesting fight, especially for Shevchenko who will have a chance to prove herself on the big stage. Shevchenko is also certainly capable of winning this fight with a balanced attack. However, we know what we’re getting with Nunes, as she’s been very consistent, is more experienced and has far more knockout power.
With the low price, I’m taking my chances with the Brazilian.
