Darren Elkins and Chas Skelly fight late Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Darren Elkins enters this fight with a 20-5 record and has won 45 percent of his fights by decision. Elkins has split his last six fights and is coming off a October win over Robert Whiteford. Elkins is averaging 2.8 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 31.1 percent. Elkins is averaging 2.35 takedowns with an accuracy percentage of 30.1 percent. Elkins is a really polished wrestler who knows how to get his opponent to the canvas and has great stamina. Elkins also isn’t the most accurate striker in the world but does have seven knockout wins under his belt. The downside is that Elkins seems to have lost his touch for finishing fights, as his last five bouts have ended in decision. This will be Elkins’ second fight in Las Vegas.

Chas Skelly enters this fight with a 15-1 record and has won 53 percent of his fights by submission. Skelly has won his last four fights and is coming off a November win over Kevin Souza. Skelly is averaging 1.68 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 38 percent. Skelly is averaging 2.12 takedowns with an accuracy percentage of 35 percent. Skelly is also a strong wrestler who has an incredible 3.03 submission average to his credit. Skelly also has a 42-inch leg reach that allows him to keep his opponent at bay when needed. The concern with Skelly is that he isn’t the most accurate striker and needs to get his opponent on the canvas to be effective. This will be Skelly’s first fight in Las Vegas.
This is going to be a fight where both guys want to wrestle and grapple their way to victory. If that’s the case, you have to give a decent sized advantage to Skelly, who is far more polished in those areas and knows how to finish fights at a higher percentage.
Look for Skelly to win his fifth straight fight.
