Ian Entwistle enters this fight with a 9-2 record and has won 78 percent of his fights by submission. Entwistle has won five of his last six fights and is coming off a 2014 win over Anthony Birchak. Entwistle is averaging 0.22 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 9.09 percent. Entwistle is averaging zero takedowns with an accuracy percentage of zero percent. Entwistle will be well rested for this fight after taking all of last year off. Entwistle has yet to have a fight go past the first round, and he’s extremely comfortable on the canvas with seven of his victories coming by submission. The concern with Entwistle is that he’s been away for a while, so there’s potential rust. This will be Entwistle’s first fight in Croatia.
USA TODAY Sports
Alejandro Perez enters this fight with a 17-6 record and has won 47 percent of his fights by knockout. Perez has won six of his last eight fights and is coming off a November win over Scott Jorgensen. Perez is averaging 3.1 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 34.6 percent. Perez is averaging 0.6 takedowns with an accuracy percentage of 33.3 percent. Perez has proven to be a balanced fighter with 12 of his 16 wins decided by stoppage. Perez is defending an impressive 66.4 percent of his opponent's strikes and five of his last 10 victories have been knockouts. The concern with Perez is that he is prone to submissions and hasn’t quite proven himself against quality competition. This will be Perez’s first fight in Croatia.
Perez has been a hit or miss throughout his career, while Entwistle has been really consistent and has the proving wrestling and grappling attack to win this fight. The time off is concerning a little bit, but it could also benefit Entwistle with the rest factor and a chance to work on his game.
This fight could go either way, but I’m siding with Entwistle.
