Luke Rockhold and Michael Bisping fight Saturday night during UFC 199 at The Forum.
Luke Rockhold enters this fight with a 15-2 record and has won 53 percent of his fights by submission. Rockhold has won his last five fights and is coming off a December win over Chris Weidman. Rockhold is averaging 4.15 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 48 percent. Rockhold is averaging 0.58 takedowns with an accuracy percentage of 40 percent. Rockhold has been on an impressive winning streak lately, and he’s stopped each of his last five victories. Rockhold is a consistent and accurate striker, who is coming off a knockout victory, but he’s more comfortable on the canvas and knows how to finish fights. Three of Rockhold’s last four wins have been submissions. This will be Rockhold’s eighth fight in California, his home state.
USA TODAY Sports
Michael Bisping enters this fight with a 29-7 record and has won 59 percent of his fights by knockout. Bisping has lost six of his last eight fights and is coming off January loss to Ed Herman. Bisping is averaging 4.4 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 38.7 percent. Bisping is averaging 1.2 takedowns with an accuracy percentage of 43.3 percent. Bisping enters this fight in terrible form, as he hasn’t won a fight since Brad Tavares in 2014. Bisping has been knocked out in his last two fights and can’t be gaining confidence as he’s now 35 years old. Still, Bisping is an impressive striker who has produced knockouts in two of his last four wins. Bisping always has a shot due to his striking power. This will be Bisping’s second fight in California.
Of course, this is a rematch of their 2014 fight when Rockhold won by submission in the fight round. I’m not sure how anybody bets against Rockhold in this fight given the way both fighters have looked the past couple of years. The fight is also being held in Rockhold’s backyard, so the crowd advantage should help a bit.
I have Rockhold winning this fight rather easily given Bisping’s current form.
