Donald Cerrone and Patrick Cote fight Saturday night during UFC Fight Night 89 at the TD Place Arena.

Donald Cerrone enters this fight with a 29-7 record and has won 55 percent of his fights by submission. Cerrone has won five of his last six fights and is coming off a February win over Alex Oliveira. Cerrone is averaging 3.96 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 47.1 percent. Cerrone is averaging 1.37 takedowns with an accuracy percentage of 42.6 percent. Cerrone has been a tease to the UFC community, as he goes on these long win streaks only to come up short a lot in big fights. Cerrone has the talent to get over that hump, and he looked sharp in his welterweight debut against Cowboy. Cerrone may have found his comfort zone fighting at 170 pounds. This will be Cerrone’s second career fight in Canada.

Donald Cerrone vs. Patrick Cote UFC Fight Night 89 Pick, Preview, Odds, Prediction - 6/18/16

USA TODAY Sports

Patrick Cote enters this fight with a 23-9 record and has won 43 percent of his fights by decision. Cote has won six of his last seven fights and is coming off a January win over Ben Saunders. Cote is averaging 2.75 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 49.8 percent. Cote is averaging 0.77 takedowns with an accuracy percentage of 22 percent. Cote is still a tough fighter at 36 years old who has only been knocked out once in his career and his last three losses have come by decision. Cote is a strong, accurate striker who has won his last two fights by knockout and is most dangerous when he’s able to fight standing up. This will be Cote’s 19th fight in Canada, his home country. The 2010 fight against Alan Belcher was the only time Cote has lost in Canada.

Anytime we get a guy who relies heavily on the striking game against a dude who can strike as well as have the advantage on the canvas, I lean with the more balanced fighter. Cote is at a disadvantage here fighting against Cerrone. So, while Cote has lost just once in his home country, Cerrone is the better overall fighter and should be able to take control of this fight once he takes down Cote.

Look for Cowboy to get the victory.
