TV: PPV

Diego Sanchez and Joe Lauzon fight Saturday night during UFC 200 at the T-Mobile Arena.

Diego Sanchez enters this fight with a 28-8 record and has won 46 percent of his fights by decision. Sanchez has split his last 12 fights and is coming off a March win over Jim Miller. Sanchez is averaging 2.73 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 35.6 percent. Sanchez is averaging 1.56 takedowns with an accuracy percentage of 22 percent. Sanchez has been hit or miss the last several years and has had his last 10 fights end in decision for better or worse. Sanchez is a grind it out type of fighter who has a tough chin and has only lost once due to stoppage of any kind. Sanchez is effective in the clinch and is solid defensively, but has to develop more of a killer instinct offensively. This will be Sanchez’s 10th fight in Las Vegas.

Diego Sanchez vs. Joe Lauzon UFC 200 Pick, Preview, Odds, Prediction - 7/9/16

USA TODAY Sports

Joe Lauzon enters this fight with a 24-12 record and has won 71 percent of his fights by submission. Lauzon has split his last 14 fights and is coming off a December loss to Evan Dunham. Lauzon is averaging 2.53 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 37.4 percent. Lauzon is averaging 2.34 takedowns with an accuracy percentage of 41.3 percent. Lauzon has also seen mixed results over the years and has pretty much struggled with consistency since joining the UFC 10 years ago. Lauzon is obviously at his best on the canvas and only one of his 25 victories have ended in a decision. Lauzon has to be aggressive from the start and put pressure on his opponent to counter. This will be Lauzon’s sixth fight in Las Vegas.

This fight is long overdue, as this was supposed to take place a while ago but never happened due to injuries and what not. This could also go either way with both guys winning a fight here and there and then losing their next fight. Which guy is going to show up?

I have to side with Lauzon due to him having the advantage on the canvas and having an extremely high percentage of finishing fights.
