The UFC continues with its rapid fire events as the UFC on Fuel TV is set to take place on Wednesday February 15.  The Century Link Center in Omaha, Nebraska will host the rare mid-week event.  The card is headlined by a welterweight clash with title implications as former lightweight title challenger Diego Sanchez takes on rising contender Jake Ellenberger.  The main card is loaded with young UFC veterans looking to ramp up their status in their respective weight classes.  The main card will be broadcast live on Fuel TV beginning at 8:00PM eastern time.  The preliminary card will be streamed live at Facebook.com with an advertised start time of 5:20PM eastern.
In addition to the welterweight main event, the main card will feature middleweight and bantamweight bouts along with a pair of heavyweight confrontations.  The co-main event of the evening will feature a heavyweight clash between Stefan Struve and Dave Herman.  Along with a preview of the bout, we will offer a prediction on which heavyweight contender will leave Omaha with a victory.

MAIN CARD (Fuel TV)

Stefan “Skyscraper” Struve (22-5) vs. Dave Herman (21-2):
Despite being less than a week shy of his 24th birthday Struve is making his tenth UFC appearance.  Struve owns six wins in his nine Octagon bouts and owns finishes in his last three wins.  In his last bout Struve earned a second round triangle choke submission of Pat Barry at UFC Live 6 in October.  It was the 15th submission win for Struve to go along with five career TKOs.  Herman is a ShoXC, Sengoku and Bellator veteran.  Herman made a successful UFC debut at UFC 131 in June with a second round TKO of John Olav Einemo in a heavyweight slugfest.  The Einemo TKO was the 15th career knockout for Herman, who also owns five submissions.
The winner of this heavyweight battle will earn contender status in ever-changing UFC Heavyweight division.  Struve has been on the cusp of contender status on several occasions but has fallen short in bouts that could raise his status.  At times Herman has displayed a world of talent but the Indiana native is one of the most enigmatic fighters in the world.  Within the same fight he can display world class skills and then seem completely disinterested.  Struve is a hard-nosed battler at every moment of every fight with a solid chin despite several knockout losses.  The 6’11” Struve will use his range and intensity to frustrate Herman.  Herman seems to like to take breaks during his bouts and Struve will use those moments to take control of the bout and simply outwork Herman on his way to a unanimous decision win.

Struve over Herman by unanimous decision.
