The Toronto Raptors have a tough task ahead of them on Friday as the Raptors head to Atlanta to face the Hawks.
The Atlanta Hawks have started their season off 0-1, following a loss to the Mavs on Wednesday, 118-109. The Hawks are a very good team, just ran into a very motivated Mavs squad in their opener. Atlanta did well offensively against the Mavericks, as five different players reached double digit points on the night. Leading the way for the Hawks was Teague, who finished with 20 points and nine assists against the Mavs. Offensively, Atlanta was fine…defense, well that is another issue altogether. Monta Ellis went off against the Hawks, finishing with 32 points on the night, while three other Mavericks reached double digits, Nowitzki and Carter, each reaching the 20 point mark on the night.

The Toronto Raptors earned a win in their opener, defeating the Boston Celtics 93-87 on Wednesday night. This was a strong win for the Raptors, but Toronto traditionally plays well at home, and now having to travel to Atlanta will be a tough task. The Raptors did a nice job of distributing the ball against Boston, as four different Raptors reached double digit points on the night, while Hansbrough, and Valanciunas, each had double digit rebounds for the Raptors. This is a decent, but definitely not great Toronto team by any stretch, and traditionally the Raptors are even worse away from their home court.
The total has gone under in six of the last nine games for the Raptors. Toronto is just 2-9 overall in their last 11 games against the Hawks. Atlanta is just 2-7 overall in their last nine games, and the Hawks are 2-8 against the spread in their last ten games at home. The Hawks are 8-2 overall in their last ten home games against the Raptors.
Neither one of these teams will be contending for any kind of title this season, but the Hawks are the better squad here. The one angle I really like is the fact that the Raptors have to travel to Atlanta. The Hawks can light up the scoreboard, and with the travel for the Raptors, I look for them to play a little soft defensively. The Raptors will get theirs as well with the Hawks having a somewhat weak defense. Look for plenty of points to be scored on Friday in Atlanta, making the over my free pick.
The over is my free pick on this game, but my strongest play of the day is on this game, and I will post that pick in the premium section today. So be sure to check it out.
