The New Orleans Pelicans hope they can get their first win of the season on Saturday night as they host the Charlotte Bobcats.
Head to head, the Bobcats are 4-14 ATS in the last 18 meetings and 1-8 ATS in the last 9 meetings in New Orleans. The Pelicans are 24-6 ATS in their last 30 games following a SU loss of more than 10 points, but just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games playing on 0 days rest and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall. Expectations are high in the Big Easy after a busy offseason, but things have started slowly for the newly named Pelicans of New Orleans. After giving up a sizeable lead in their season opener against the visiting Indiana Pacers, the Pelicans looked lost on Friday night in their showdown with the Orlando Magic, falling 110-90 despite being a four point favorite. Anthony Davis can’t be too blame as the finished with team highs of 26 points and 17 rebounds for a Pelicans team that shot just 34% for the game, compared to 55% for the Magic.
The Charlotte Bobcats managed to avoid a 0-2 start after holding off the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night 90-84. Kemba Walker continued this strong start to the season with 23 points and seven assists while second-year forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist chipped in with 15 of his own. It was encouraging win for a Charlotte squad that was without their major free agent acquisition of the summer in Al Jefferson who re-aggravated his ankle in their loss at Houston on Wednesday night.
New Orleans have had the Bobcats number of the last couple of seasons, winning and covering in seven of the last nine meetings overall. Still, only two of those wins have came by over tonight’s spread of eight points and you have to admit, they haven’t looked that great in their first two games, which is understandable given the new players on the roster. Not crazy about this one, but I think the Bobcats can keep this one within the number..
