The Los Angeles Clippers have their work cut out for them on Saturday as the Clippers head to Houston to face the Rockets.
The Houston Rockets are playing very good ball so far this season, owning a solid record of 4-2. The Rockets were thought going into the year to have one of the best offenses in the league, and the Rockets are not disappointing in that fact, scoring an average of 107.5 points per game. The defense is giving up 103 points per game this year, but the addition of Howard has really helped the Rockets on the boards, as Houston is averaging 47 rebounds per game on the season. Last time out, the Rockets fell to the Los Angeles Lakers at home, 99-98.

The Los Angeles Clippers head to Houston on Saturday to face off against Howard and the Rockets. The Clippers are right at the .500 mark this season, owning a record of 3-3 on the year. Los Angeles has the top rated offense in the league currently, scoring an average of 110.5 points per game. But, like most teams with great offenses, the defense is struggling for Los Angeles currently. The Clippers are ranked 30th in the league in points allowed, giving up 108.3 per game. In the Clippers last outing, Los Angeles fell to the Miami Heat, 102-97 on Thursday.
The Clippers are 4-2 against the spread this season, and on the road, the Clippers are an even 2-2 against the number. When coming off a non-conference game this year, the Clippers are 1-1 against the spread. Also, when playing against teams that are averaging 99+ points per game on the season, the Clippers are 2-1 ATS.
The Houston Rockets are 3-2 against the spread this season, and at home, the Rockets are 1-1 against the number. Going against teams that are allowing more than 99 points per game on the year, the Rockets are just 1-2 against the spread, and against offense teams in the same category, the Rockets are 1-2 against the spread as well.
I’m taking the Clippers in this spot, but honestly this is not a game that I will make a play on personally. Los Angeles has played a brutal schedule thus far, and still the Clippers are 3-3 and match up well statistically with the Rockets. Houston has a huge edge on the boards here, but the Clippers move the ball around real well, and take care of the ball, which is huge when you are getting points on the road.
If you play this one you may have to sweat it out, but for my free play I’ll be on Los Angeles.
