The Sacramento Kings collide with the Detroit Pistons on Friday from Sleepy Train Arena.
Head to head, the Pistons are 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings and 5-0 ATS in the last 5 meetings in Sacramento while the road team is 10-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings and the underdog is 8-1 ATS in the last 9 meetings. The Kings are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. NBA Central, but just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games and 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Pistons on the other hand are 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 road games and 22-8-1 ATS in their last 31 road games vs. a team with a losing home record, but just 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 vs. Western Conference.
It's been a rough start to the season for Mike Malone and his Sacramento Kings, however, he had something to smile about on Wednesday as his team dispatched the heavily favored Brooklyn Nets 107-86 in-front of a sold out crowd. Sacramento, who recorded their first win since taking down the Denver Nuggets in their season and home opener, looked sharp in their dismantilling of the Nets as Marcus Thornton led the way with 24 points while Isaiah Thomas added 19 to go along with six rebounds and six assists as both players came off the bench to take control of the game. It was also a breakout game on the offensive end for Sacramento as they had their highest scoring game of the season and just their second game over 100 points.
The Detroit Pistons started the season well enough, but they come into tonight's game riding a four-game losing streak as they continue to struggle on the defensive end. On the season, the Pistons are giving up an average of 104.3 points per game, which ranks 25th out of 30 teams. However, that number has jumped to 113.6 over thier last three losses as they continue to face some of the elite offensive teams in the leauge in Oklahoma City, Portland and most recently Golden State on Monday night. Detroit also ranks in the bottom third of the league in overall rebounding, despite their massive size advantage up front.
These two teams might not be the highest scoring teams out there, but they sure like to pile on the points when they face each other the over is a perfect 5-0 in their last five meetings. Not only that, but the average total points in those five contests has been a whopping 216 points, which is 20 points over tonight's total. In what looks like a game that could go either way, the over seems like the safe way to go....
