The Philadelphia 76ers invade the American Airlines Center to take on the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night.

The Philadelphia 76ers have been in red-hot form as they’ve won six of their past eight games, but they will be itching to bounce back in this one after having their five-game win streak halted by the Wizards in a 106-103 home loss on Wednesday. Joel Embiid led the team with 27 points, 14 rebounds and six assists, Tyrese Maxey added 22 points with eight rebounds and seven assists while Tobias Harris chipped in with 18 points, nine rebounds and three assists. As a team, the 76ers shot 45 percent from the field and 11 of 27 from the 3-point line as they worked hard all game to lead by five points late in the fourth quarter, before the Wizards closed the final 4:27 on a 16-8 run to snatch the game from them late.

Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks have been in great form as they’ve won seven of their past 11 games overall, but they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting stopped by the Thunder in a 120-114 overtime home loss on Wednesday. Luka Doncic led the team with 40 points and 10 assists on 16 of 33 shooting, Reggie Bullock added 23 points with eight rebounds while Jalen Brunson chipped in with 20 points on 10 of 18 shooting. As a team, the Mavericks shot 46 percent from the field and 14 of 43 from the 3-point line as they rallied back from a 12-point deficit to force overtime, but it was the Mavericks who blinked first in overtime where the Thunder used a pivotal 9-2 run to pull away late.

Looking at the betting trends, the 76ers are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games and 5-0 ATS in their last five games following a loss. The Mavericks are 7-1 ATS in their last eight games following a loss and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against a team above .600.

Head to head, the under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall, the 76ers are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings in Dallas and the 76ers are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings overall.

The 76ers will again be shorthanded as Shake Milton has been ruled out while Seth Curry is listed as questionable, while the Mavericks will again be missing Kristaps Porzingis, Sterling Brown and Tim Hardaway Jr. The 76ers were on fire before getting stopped by the Wizards in a shock loss on Wednesday, so they will be itching to get back on the court and back in the win column. The Mavericks have cooled off with a couple of losses on the trot and they’re having to rely so heavily on Doncic with Porzingis and Hardaway Jr. out, so I’m sticking with the 76ers to get the job done in this spot.
