The Line: Portland Trail Blazers -5 -- Over/Under: 206.5 See the Latest Odds
The red-hot Portland Trail Blazers host the Dallas Mavericks in prime time NBA action from the Rose Garden.
Head to head, the Mavericks are 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings and 4-1-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings in Portland. The Trail Blazers are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games playing on 0 days rest, 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games and 13-3 ATS in their last 16 games overall. The Mavericks on the other hand are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and 25-9 ATS in their last 34 road games, but just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall.
How can you not like the over here after what you saw from the Portland Trail Blazers last night? If you missed it, Portland poured in 130 points in a comfortable victory over the visiting Utah Jazz as they went a franchise-best 17 of 23 from beyond the arc (73.9 percent), setting an NBA record for any team with at least 20 attempts. With their recent scoring surge, the Trail Blazers now rank 2nd in the league with 106.3 points per game and the over has hit in 14 of thier 20 games thus far.
Although the Dallas Mavericks are in a bit of a slump offensivly, they are still averaging 103.5 on the season, which is the 7th best mark in the entire league. Unlike Portland, the under has hit in eight of their last 10 games and they have been held to 89 points or under in two of their last four outings. Dallas has struggled on the defensive end in the early stages as they are allowing 101.7 per game, which ranks 22nd in the league.
I'm not really concerned about the Mavs mini offensive slump because when you look at it, those two games they had in the 80's were their only two of the season so far and was against Charlotte, who believe it or not, have the third best defense in the NBA. What more can you say about Portland? They are averaging 115 points over their last three home games and I don't think they are going to slow down against one of the worst defensive teams out there. Like the over here if you hadn't of noticed...
