The New Orleans Pelicans head to Denver on Sunday to face off against the Nuggets.
The Denver Nuggets are sitting at 13-9 this season, and have rebounded nicely after a rough start. The Nuggets are known to play well at home, and this year isn’t much different as the Nuggets are 6-3 this season on their home court. Denver has struggle a bit lately however, as the Nuggets are just 2-3 in their last five games, dropping their last outing against the Utah Jazz on Friday, 103-93 at home. The Nuggets are definitely a strong team, but Denver has relied on offense the past few seasons, and unless the Nuggets get things going offensively, Denver won’t be going far into the post season this year.

The New Orleans Pelicans, still by all accounts have the worst mascot in professional sports. That being the case, the Pelicans have stepped up their game this season and finally, New Orleans is playing respectable ball. New Orleans is 11-10 overall this season, and on the road, the Pelicans are 4-5 this season. The Pelicans are flip-flopped from the Nuggets, as the Pelicans are 3-2 in their last five games, including back to back wins over the Pistons and the Memphis Grizzlies, both at home in New Orleans.
The Pelicans are 4-1-1 against the spread in their last six games when their opponents have scored 100+ in their previous game. New Orleans is also 4-1 against the spread in their last five games after scoring 100+ points per game. New Orleans is 6-15 against the spread in their last 21 road games.
The Denver Nuggets are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games against a team with a winning record. The Nuggets are also 4-1 against the spread in their last five games following an overall loss. The home team is 5-0 against the spread in the last five games in this series.
I’m going with the over in this spot. The Nuggets need a win at home, but I just don’t see the Nuggets having the defense to completely shut down New Orleans. Both teams are putting up better than triple digits this season, and I see things being no different here on Sunday.
