The Atlanta Hawks look to continue their dominance over the Utah Jazz on Friday night from Philips Arena.
Head to head, the Jazz are 0-4 ATS in the last 4 meetin and 1-5 ATS in the last 6 meetings in Atlanta while the favorite is 15-6 ATS in the last 21 meetings. The Hawks are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games and 13-3 ATS in their last 16 games playing on 1 days rest, but just 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games following a SU win of more than 10 points. The Jazz on the other hand are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 road games, but just 2-6 ATS in their last 8 vs. Eastern Conference and 9-21-1 ATS in their last 31 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600.
Thanks to some strong second half performances, the Atlanta Hawks come into tonight's game having won five of seven to improve to 14-12 overall, which is good third in the weak Eastern Conference. In their two recent home games against the Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings, the Hawks waited until after halftime to make their mark, outscoring both teams by a combined 39 points and putting on an offensive clinic in the process. In their 114-100 win over the Lakers, Atlanta scored 67 total points in the second half and then in their 124-107 victory over the Kings on Wednesday, they finished with a whopping 71 after halftime.
Trey Burke had his best performance as an NBA player and the Utah Jazz picked up a hard fought 86-82 win over the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night. Burke finished with a season and career-high 30 points on 12-20 shooting while also adding eight assists and seven rebounds for a Jazz team that won for the just the seventh time this season. On a positive note, Utah has now won three of four on the road after recently taking down Sacramento and Denver by double-digits.
Not only have the Jazz won three of their last four on the road, but they have also covered the spread in seven of their last 10 away from home. Despite this, I just can't ignore how good the Hawks have looked at home recently as four of their past five wins at Philips Arena has come by double-digits or greater. Atlanta is in a nice groove at the moment and I see them pulling away late for the cover...
