The San Antonio Spurs and the Dallas Mavericks duke it out at the American Airlines Center on Thursday night.

The San Antonio Spurs have been ice-cold lately as they have now lost 14 in a row after falling short against the Hornets in a 120-110 road loss last Wednesday. Malaki Branham led the team with 23 points on 10 of 14 shooting, Keldon Johnson added 21 points with eight rebounds and four assists while Doug McDermott chipped in with 17 points on six of nine shooting off the bench. As a team, the Spurs shot just 38 percent from the field and 13 of 38 from the 3-point line, but to their credit, they hustled with 20 offensive rebounds and managed to stay in the contest till the end.

Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks have won six of their last 11 games overall, but they are actually on a three-game losing streak after getting stopped by the Nuggets in a 118-109 road loss last Wednesday. Luka Doncic tried his best as the led the team with 37 points with nine assists and four steals, Christian Wood added 17 points off the bench while AJ Lawson chipped in with 10 points off the bench. As a team, the Mavericks shot 46 percent from the field and 14 of 39 from the 3-point line, but it was all a little too late as they were always fighting an uphill battle after getting dominated by 35-19 in the second quarter.

Looking at the betting trends, the Spurs are 7-19 ATS in their last 26 road games, 10-26 ATS in their last 36 games following a loss and 3-14 ATS in their last 17 games overall. The Mavericks are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games, 6-19-1 ATS in their last 26 games against a team with a losing record and 2-7 ATS in their last nine games against a team below .400.

Head to head, the under is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings in Dallas, the Spurs are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Dallas and the Spurs are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall.

The Spurs could be shorthanded once again as they were missing several key players heading into the break, while the Mavericks are still missing Maxi Kleber and Davis Bertans. The Spurs have been the coldest team in the league, but despite their obvious struggles, they were good enough to at least hang with the Hornets in their last outing and I think that’s what we’re going to see here. In no way am I saying the Spurs are going to win this one, but the Mavericks are still a work in progress and I just don’t feel that they should be so heavily favored right now. This is one that I’d rather stay away from, but if I had to choose, I’d lean with the Spurs to hang around till the end.
