The Boston Celtics play host to Kyrie Irving and the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday afternoon basketball.
Head to head, the Cavaliers are 6-2 ATS in the last 8 meetings and 2-5 ATS in the last 7 meetings in Boston while the underdog is 6-2 ATS in the last 8 meetings and the home team is 6-1 ATS in the last 7 meetings. The Celtics are 19-7-1 ATS in their last 27 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 home games, but just 5-16-1 ATS in their last 22 vs. NBA Central. The Cavaliers on the other hand are 4-14-1 ATS in their last 19 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record, 7-16 ATS in their last 23 games following a S.U. loss and 4-12 ATS in their last 16 road games.
If you didn't know, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been really bad on the road this season, really bad. The Philadelphia 76ers hold the mantle as the worst traveling team having only won the single game in 13 attempts, but the Cavaliers aren't far behind then as they are just 2-12 on the road this season. And it's not like they are just coming up short time after time as they have only covered the spread in four of those contests. In fact, eight of their losses have come by double-digits.
The Boston Celtics have been a pleasant surprise this season, but they come into today's game having lost three straight to fall to 12-17 overall. After a pair of close home losses to Detroit and Washington, the Celtics then headed to Indiana and the result was no pretty as they went down 106-79. On the bright side, Boston hasn't played since last Saturday and before those two home losses, they had won four of five at TD Garden.
As bad as the Cavs have been on the road this season, their overall form isn't too crash hot either as they have lost four of five overall after winning three straight. While the Celtics have dropped three on the trot, two of those games could of easily gone the other way and I like the fact that they have had six days to rest and stew on those losses. Fading Cleveland here more than anything else...
