The Indiana Pacers play host the Cleveland Cavaliers on New Year's day.
Head to head, the Cavaliers are 1-5 ATS in the last 6 meetings while the favorite is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings. The Pacers are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a SU win of more than 10 points, 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400 and 18-6 ATS in their last 24 home games. The Cavaliers on the other hand are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games overall, but just 5-12 ATS in their last 17 road games.
Seriously, who's taking the Cleveland Cavaliers here? Let's run through a couple of facts shall we:
1: The Pacers own a seven-game winning streak over the Cavaliers by an average of 13 points and four of those victories have come by greater than tonight's line of 12.5. Indiana has also already defeated Cleveland at home earlier in the season 89-74.
2: Indiana is 14-1 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse this season and while they doesn't mean much from a betting stand point, they are 10-5 against the spread in those contests.
3: Along with the Philadelphia 76ers, the Cavs are the worst road team in the league at a putrid 2-13. They are 5-10 ATS in those games.
4: Eight of Cleveland's 13 road losses this season has come by 15 points or greater. Just think about that. Only five of their games away from home have resulted in anything but a blowout loss. They stink on the road.
Given all of this, I don't see how you can look past the Pacers. With Irving and Waiters in the backcourt, there is always the chance for the old back door cover, but so what...
