A couple of closely matched teams collide at the Target Center tonight when the New Orleans Pelicans take on the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Pelicans have won three of their last four and look to be in season-best form after beating the Trailblazers by 110-108 on Monday. Jrue Holiday had a monster night of 31 points and 13 assists, while Anthony Davis added 27 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks, but the game went down to the wire and that's where Tyreke Evans delivered with the game-winning jumpshot to finish with 20 points and send the Pelicans to 14-15 overall and 9-5 at home.

Meanwhile, the Timberwolves were looking for a third straight win on Monday but are coming off a heartbreaking 100-98 loss to the Mavericks despite fighting their way back from a 19-point deficit. Kevin Love poured in 36 points, Kevin Martin added 19 and Nikola Pekovic had 16, but the Wolves looked like they were robbed of a shot to send the game to overtime when Love was fouled by Shawn Marion on a shot attempt which the referees missed. With the loss, Minnesota drop to 15-16 overall and 9-5 at home.
In ATS trends, the Pelicans are 6-0 ATS in their last six games against a team with a losing record and 4-0-1 ATS in their last five games overall, while the Wolves are 21-7-1 ATS in their last 29 games following a loss and 17-8-1 ATS in their last 26 games against a team with a losing record.
Head to head, the Pelicans are 2-6 ATS in the last eight meetings in Minnesota and the Over is 4-0 in the last four.
The Wolves to win and cover was my initial pick for this game especially coming off a tough loss, but the Pelicans have really been rounding into some strong form so I wouldn't be surprised at all if they kept this game close or even won it straight up. With that being said, I'm taking the visitors with the points in what should be a close game from start to finish.
