The Charlotte Bobcats return to the Queens City to face the slumping Washington Wizards on Tuesday night.
Head to head, the home team is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings and the favorite is 10-4 ATS in the last 14 meetings. The Bobcats are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. Eastern Conference and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a S.U. win, but just 1-7 ATS in their last 8 home games following a road trip of 7 or more days. The Wizards on the other hand are 11-1 ATS in their last 12 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games, but just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games following a SU loss of more than 10 points.
Ever since the New Year's day, the Washington Wizards have sucked, just quietly. This was a squad that had won five of their last six to close 2013 and had averaged 105 points per game in those contests. However, the Wizards find themselves winless in the New Year at 0-3 and have averaged a measly 87 points in those three. What's more puzziling is that Washington haven't suffered any injuries whatsoever and it's not like they faced any good defensive teams in that stretch.
The Charlotte Bobcats are coming off two big scoring games to close out their five-game road swing, but this is still one of the worst offenses in the league as they had been held to 85 points or under in four of their previous six outings. Games are always low scoring when Charlotte plays at home as the under is 11-2-1 in their last 14 home games. Also, don't forget that the Bobcats are coming off a long road trip, so expect them to be a bit sloppier than usual.
Given the above and the fact that the Wizards have major issues on offense right now, the under has to be the play here. Now the over is 3-0 in their last three meetings and there is every chance this could be a breakout game for Washington, but I just don't see it against one of the better defensive teams out there in Charlotte, surprisingly enough. Don't tell me you couldn't see another 91-89 type of score-line...
