The Sacramento Kings welcome the slumping Orlando Magic to town on Friday night.
Head to head, the Magic are 1-5 ATS in the last 6 meetings. The Kings are 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400, 19-40-2 ATS in their last 61 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. win. The Magic on the other hand are 5-20-1 ATS in their last 26 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400, 0-5 ATS in their last 5 vs. Western Conference and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games overall

Here’s the deal with the Sacramento Kings, when they play at home anyway. To cut a long story short, they are really good when facing the elite teams in the NBA and really bad when facing the cellar dwellers of the league. Sacramento is just 4-16 against the spread in their last 22 home games versus a team with a losing road record, however, they are a perfect 8-0 ATS in their last eight home games against a team with a winning home record. Since the start of December, the Kings have not only covered the spread, but they have won straight up against the likes of Dallas, Houston, Miami and most recently Portland on Tuesday night. In their last three games against weaker opponents, the Kings have not only failed to cover the spread but they have lost straight up to New Orleans, Philadelphia and Charlotte, all by double-digits mind you.
Now the Orlando Magic have been one of the worst teams in the league since the start of December, winning just the four time and have dropped 25 of 35 this season. The Magic have been particularly poor in the New Year, dropping four straight by an average of 14.5 points per game. Having said that, they have played a tough schedule which includes games against Miami and in Los Angles (Clippers) and most recently Portland on Wednesday night.
I still can’t get over the fact that the Kings can lose to the Bobcats and 76ers by double-digits and then go and beat the Trail Blazers and reigning champion Heat. It just doesn’t make sense. The only other team I could think of that could do something like this is the Detroit Pistons, who are very up and down as well. While Orlando has been bad pretty much all season, I think they are going to welcome playing a weaker team and this will be a good chance to break their losing streak tonight. I wouldn’t bet my hard earned money on two bad teams, but if you have too, why not just go Orlando money line given that Sacramento will probably take their foot off the gas, again!!
