The Orlando Magic head to Brooklyn on Tuesday to face off against the Nets.
The Brooklyn Nets are currently five games below the .500 mark on the season, but still the Nets are in second place in their division, trailing the Raptors by just 2.5 games. The Nets have one of the worst offenses this season, but defensively this team is respectable, holding opponents to an average of 100.4 points per game. The Nets have been playing very well as of late, winning two in a row, and seven of their last eight.

The Orlando Magic started off the season hoping this young squad could exorcise some of the demons from last season. That hasn’t been the case. The Magic are currently 11-30 on the year, and on the road Orlando is horrible, going 3-17. The Magic are scoring an average of 96 points per game on the season, and allowing 101.9. Not a winning ratio. Orlando comes into Tuesday’s meeting with the Nets having dropped ten out of their last 11 games. The Magic did get a win last time out however, defeating the Boston Celtics 93-91 in Orlando on Sunday.
The Magic are just 1-4 against the spread in their last five games following an outright win, and the Magic are just 2-8 against the spread in their last ten games when playing on one day of rest. The Magic are also 0-6 against the spread in their last six road games.
The Nets are 5-0 against the spread in their last five home games, and the Magic are 5-0 against the spread in their last five home games against a team with a losing record. Brooklyn is also 5-1 against the spread in their last six games following an outright win.
This is a lot of points to be giving up with Brooklyn, but I just can’t back the Magic in this spot. The Nets likely won’t light up the scoreboard, even against this Magic defense, but I just don’t see Orlando putting up enough resistance here. Tread lightly, but if you are going to play this one, Brooklyn looks like the side to be on.
