The Minnesota Timberwolves head to Portland on Saturday to face off against the Trail Blazers.
The Portland Trail Blazers are currently in second place in the Northwest division, trailing the Oklahoma City Thunder by 1.5 games at this point. The Trail Blazers have one of the most dynamic attacks in the league this season, putting up an average of 109.3 points per game. The defense is the only real issue I see with the Trail Blazers as Portland is allowing 103.5 points per game and in the playoffs that won’t cut it. Portland has struggled a bit lately, dropping two out of their last three games, with their last outing resulting in a win against the Nuggets at home on Thursday 110-105.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are right at the .500 mark this season as the Timberwolves are 21-21 on the year. Minnesota has struggled on the road this year however, going 9-13. The Timberwolves, like the Trail Blazers, have one of the best offenses in the game right now, as Minnesota is scoring more than 106 points per game on the year. Kevin Love is the leading scorer for the Timberwolves, and the All Star is having a tremendous season, leading the team with 25 points per game, while also leading the team in rebounds per game with 13.
Minnesota is 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games on the road, and the Timberwolves are 5-11 against the spread in their last 16 games following an ATS win. The Timberwolves are also 1-4 against the spread in their last five games against a team with a winning record.
The Trail Blazers are just 1-4 against the spread in their last five games on Saturdays, and the Trail Blazers are just 2-6 against the spread in their last eight games when playing on just one day of rest.
I’m going with the over here. I’m tempted to take the Timberwolves, and if you are not the type to play totals, Minnesota looks like the side to be on here, but the best value looks to be on the over. We have two dominant offenses here and I just don’t see either defense slowing the other team down here.
