The Cleveland Cavaliers play host to Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday night from Quicken Loans Arena.

Head to head, the road team is 6-2 ATS in the last 8 meetings. The Cavaliers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400 and 11-5 ATS in their last 16 home games, but just 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games overall. The Pelicans on the other hand are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall, but just 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. win.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. New Orleans Pelicans - 1/28/14

David Richard-USA TODAY Sports

There was a brief moment right after the Luol Deng trade where it looked like the Cleveland Cavaliers might actually turn into a decent offensive team, however, that moment has come and gone. The Cavaliers went through a stretch recently where they scored over 110 points in four of six games, most of which coming on their five-game Western road swing which concluded with a 117-109 victory in Denver. Yet, in their four games since, which have all been at home, Cleveland has averaged just 91.7 points per contest and it’s no surprise that the under is a perfect 4-0 in those games. In fact, the under is now a 7-0 in their last seven at Quicken Loans Arena.

As far as the New Orleans Pelicans are concerned, they haven’t been the same since Ryan Anderson and Jrue Holiday went down with injuries and rightfully so. The Pellies are coming off back-to-back 100 point outings, but they were against Detroit and Orlando, two teams who have been giving up 100 points like they were going out of fashion. When looking at the big picture, New Orleans has only surpassed the 100 point plateau in four of their last 13 matches and they have only gone over 103 points once. As a result, the under is 8-4-1 in those 13 games.

Now these two teams have already met this season and the total finished on 204, however, both Anderson and Holiday were playing in that game and Cavs did shoot 53 percent from the field, which doesn’t happen often. For whatever reason, games being played in Cleveland these days just aren’t high scoring and while their streak of seven straight unders has to come to and end sometime, I don’t think tonight will be that night..
