The San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets have been a little shaky as of late. Maybe a third meeting between the two Western Conference powerhouses on Tuesday night will wake these teams up.
The banged up Spurs have lost three of their last five games, all to elite competition. They were destroyed by the Miami Heat on Sunday and couldn’t stop neither the Portland Trail Blazers nor Oklahoma City Thunder’s offense. They’re allowing teams to shoot an insane 46.9 percent from the field in their last five games, which is simply not Spurs basketball. Of course, having no Danny Green, Kawhi Leonard or Tiago Splitter in the lineup doesn’t help matters.

The Rockets have lost two straight, both to an underachieving Memphis Grizzlies. They weren’t the usual high-scoring Rockets we’ve seen this season, either, scoring less than 90 points in both contests. If you’re able to get over those games, Houston is still averaging more than 105 points per game in its last five and is shooting 45.4 percent from the field. Chandler Parsons has really found his groove lately, scoring more than 30 points in two of his last four games.
The line on this game could really go either way. You have to like Houston at home where it is 18-7 straight up on the season. However, the Spurs are one of the best road teams in the country with a 16-4 record away from home, and they have to win a big game at some point this season, right?
I’m just not sure I can pick a banged up San Antonio team against a much younger Houston squad that is capable of running its opponents out of the gym.
The Spurs are 0-4 against the spread in their last four meetings against Houston.
Give me the Rockets and the small chalk.
