The Line: Miami Heat -4 -- Over/Under: 205 See the Latest Odds
The Oklahoma City Thunder traveling to take on the Miami Heat will be must-watch television for all basketball fans. The Heat remain one of the national championship favorites and the Thunder are playing some of the best basketball of the season.
Oklahoma City has won eight straight thanks to the help of Kevin Durant and 11 consecutive performances of 30 or more points. The guy simply can’t miss right now and is well on track to winning MVP for the first time in his career. And while he’ll get most of the credit for this hot streak, Oklahoma City’s defense has also been playing well, forcing teams into tough shots and allowing just 31.7 percent from downtown in its last five games.

The Heat have also been playing extremely well, winning five of their last six and coming fresh off a statement victory over San Antonio on Sunday. Miami is shooting 53 percent from the field in its last five games and Chris Bosh has been big time, scoring more than 20 points in six of his last seven. The Heat also got Dwyane Wade back, which should only help take some of the pressure off the rest of the guys.
I was actually shocked when I saw this line, as I thought it was going to be closer to a pick em. But even with the Heat -4, I think this is once again a good spot to take Miami. Sure, Durant seems unstoppable right now and could probably find a way to will his team to another victory. But he’s likely going to have some guy named LeBron James guarding him for much of the game, and he’ll be out to take back some of his MVP votes.
It’s the same reason I had Miami covering against the Spurs (that worked out well). The Heat are looking to make a statement and get into playoff mode. They’ve never had a problem waking up against the best teams in the league, it’s the Bobcats and Wizards you have to worry about.
The favorite is 4-1 against the spread in the last five meetings between these two teams. The Heat are also 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games against teams in the Northeast division.
Expect the Heat to once again play at a high level.
