Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder travel to the nation's capital to face the Washington Wizards on Saturday night.
Head to head, the Thunder are 6-14-1 ATS in the last 21 meetings and 2-8 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Washington. The Wizards are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of greater than .600 and 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games following a S.U. loss, but just 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games. The Thunder on the other hand are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 road games, 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games playing on 0 days rest and 9-1 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
Who out their thinks that Oklahoma City's 10-game winning streak is in jeopardy tonight? I'm not saying it's going to happen because it's always hard to predict when a streak is going to end, especially for a team as hot as the Thunder has been, but it wouldn't surprise me to see the Washington Wizards win tonight. It's not because the Wizards are that good or anything like that, but this will be OKC's third game in four nights and eighth game in the past 12 nights overall. At some stage, they are going to lose and if Washington play up to their potential, that night could be tonight.
While I could see either team covering the spread tonight, I see a bit more value in the total. The Thunder have just been on a roll on the offensive end during their winning streak, thanks mainly in part to Kevin Durant as they have topped 100 points in each game since scoring 104 in Houston back in the middle of January. While Washington are a bit more up and down with their scoring totals, the over is 5-2 in their last seven home games. The over is also 6-2 in the last eight meetings between the Wizards and Thunder.
I'm not in love with this total either because if the Thunder come out all tired from all the games they have played recently, I could see them struggling to get to 100. Plus, the Wizards are never a great team to take totals with because they are quite unpredictable. In any case, i'll take my chances with the over in this one and hope OKC continue on their high scoring ways and the Wiz match them...
