The Detroit Pistons will play the Orlando Magic Wednesday in a clash between two teams that have seen better days. The Pistons have lost five of their last seven games and the Magic have only won three games in 2014.
Usually you would just skip this game and act like neither team even existed, but there’s the potential to make big money with such a short line. Frankly, I don’t understand the small chalk that Detroit is getting.

These teams split the previous two meetings and Detroit has actually won six of the last 10 vs. Orlando.
As for recent play, the Pistons really blow the Magic out of the water. They’re averaging close to 104 points in their last five games, while Orlando is lucky to score in the 90s most nights. In fact, the Magic have been held short of 90 points in four of their last five games.
There’s also a nice rebounding advantage that Detroit has, as it is averaging 45.1 boards per game this season. Orlando is snagging just 42.1 boards per game. It may not sound like a big deal, but the team that won the rebounding advantage in the first two matchups won the game, and Detroit dominated the most recent meeting with a 56-40 advantage less than a month ago.
Detroit is a lot more talented than Orlando and is fresh off a five-point loss to the Miami Heat. Getting the Pistons under three points is a gift.
The Pistons are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games against Eastern Conference teams and has covered three of their last four games against the Magic.
Sure, both teams are lousy, but Detroit has shown much more progress and isn’t tanking with a possible playoff spot in sight.
