The Oklahoma City Thunder will make a quick road stop to take on the Orlando Magic for the second and final time this season. These two teams met back in December and the Thunder won by a score of 101-98.
Oklahoma City is back to its winning ways with two impressive victories over Memphis and Minnesota. Kevin Durant continues to lead an offensive powerhouse that is now shooting 49.5 percent in its last five games and has topped 100 points in 11 of its last 13 contests. Defensively, the Thunder have held opponents to just 92 points in their last five games, which is considerably lower than their 97.4 points per game average. Despite the loss to Washington, there isn’t a team out there playing better than Oklahoma City.

Orlando is the exact opposite, as the Magic have won only four games in the year 2014. They’re 24th in the league in points per game, 22nd in rebounds and 21st in points allowed. And many of these losses haven’t even been close considering their against the spread record is 21-30. The only positive with this team is that it is coming off a victory against the Detroit Pistons. Still, this is a team that is clearly tanking for one of the top picks in next years draft.
How this spread isn’t double digits is beyond me. We’re talking about a championship contender against one of the worst teams in the league. The Thunder are 16-10 against the spread on the road and have covered in six of their last seven road games. They have also beaten the Magic straight up in five straight meetings.
Meanwhile, Orlando is 12-13 ATS on its home court and 6-15 ATS in its last 21 games overall.
I’ve learned my lesson betting against Oklahoma City and large spreads. I won’t fall for the same trap with one of the worst teams in the NBA.
Expect a double-digit win by the Thunder.
