The New Orleans Pelicans and Brooklyn Nets meet Wednesday in NBA preseason action at The Arena.

The New Orleans Pelicans entered the hiatus splitting their last 10 games and chasing a playoff spot. The New Orleans Pelicans are averaging 116.2 points on 46.2 percent shooting and allowing 117 points on 46.5 percent shooting. Brandon Ingram is averaging 24.3 points and 4.3 assists while Zion Williamson is averaging 23.6 points and 6.8 rebounds. Jrue Holiday is the third double-digit scorer and JJ Redick is dishing two assists. The New Orleans Pelicans are shooting 37.2 percent from beyond the arc and 72.9 percent from the free thitem line. The New Orleans Pelicans are allowing 35.5 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 47 rebounds per game.

The Brooklyn Nets entered the NBA break winning four of their last five games. The Brooklyn Nets are averaging 110.8 points on 44.4 percent shooting and allowing 111.4 points on 44.2 percent shooting. Spencer Dinwiddie is averaging 20.6 points and 6.8 assists while Caris LeVert is averaging 17.7 points and 4.1 rebounds. Joe Harris is the third double-digit scorer and Taurean Prince is grabbing six rebounds. The Brooklyn Nets are shooting 34 percent from beyond the arc and 74.4 percent from the free thitem line. The Brooklyn Nets are allowing 35 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 48.5 rebounds per game.

The New Orleans Pelicans will be without Zion Williamson possibly until the regular season, but their team is intact for the most part beyond that, and they’ve played a ton of games without him anyway. The Brooklyn Nets are missing nearly their entire roster to the point they had to sign random guys just to fill a team, and one of those pickups in Michael Beasley is out due to Covid. The Nets won’t have Taurean Prince, Kevin Durant or Kyrie Irving for the remainder of the season, and Spencer Dinwiddie is a big question mark due to Covid as well.

I have almost no choice but to side with the Pelicans and whatever the potential line is. The Brooklyn Nets don’t have an NBA roster in Orlando and are likely counting the days till when they can go home.
