I don’t have a heap of stats to back me up, but I get the feeling this is going to be a low scoring battle. Well, not entirely low scoring, but enough to get under the assigned 192 total points. The under is 2-1-1 in the Brooklyn Nets last four games and they have been held to 96 points or under in four of their last six. The two games in which they went over 96 were against Philadelphia, who are the worst defensive team in the NBA by a mile and against San Antonio, who were missing Tony Parker, Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, Boris Diaw and Kawhi Leonard, basically their starting five.
The Charlotte Bobcats are actually in a nice groove offensively at the moment, coming off a 100 point outing against that same Spurs squad (although they weren’t missing half their team) and then pouring in 114 in their blowout win over the Dallas Mavericks last night. Having said that, Kemba Walker left Tuesday night’s game against the Mavs with tightness in his Achillies tendon and is questionable for tonight’s match. It’s unfortunate for Charlotte, but good for us who are hoping for a low scoring game because Walker is by far the Bobcats best guard and second-leading scorer.
As far as picking a side goes, the Bobcats have actually covered the spread in 16 of their last 24 road games, which is pretty impressive for this squad. Yet, they might be missing Walker and they are on a second of a back-to-back, so I’m undecided about that one. Like I said before, the under doesn’t jump out at you when looking at previous games and meetings, but I get the feeling the end results will be something like 97-91 in favor of Brooklyn...
