The Line: Toronto Raptors -6.5 -- Over/Under: 200 See the Latest Odds
The Toronto Raptors and Atlanta Hawks square off from Air Canada Center on Wednesday night.
Head to head, the Hawks are 8-1 ATS in the last 9 meeting in Toronto while the road team is 7-1 ATS in the last 8 meetings. The Raptors are 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400, 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 home games and 20-7-1 ATS in their last 28 games overall. The Hawks on the other hand are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games playing on 0 days rest.
Although they have slowed down recently, the Toronto Raptors have still been covering machines ever since shipping Rudy Gay off to Sacramento at the start of December. Toronto has failed the cover the spread in each of their last three games (two losses and a push at home on Monday against New Orleans), but they are still 20-7-1 ATS in their last 28 overall, which just shows their dominance. The Raptors failed to cover the spread in the last two games of their recent five-game Western Conference road trip, which although not acceptable, still understandable.
For the Atlanta Hawks, it's pretty simple. They are really good at home and really quite average away from home. The Hawks are 16-9 straight up at Philips Arena this season and they have covered the spread in 15 of those contests, compared to on the road where Atlanta is just 9-15 and 11-13 against the spread. The Hawks also come into tonight's game riding a three-game losing streak, dropping two straight home games against Memphis and Indiana.
Given Atlanta's struggles on the road this season and the fact that they will be on a back-to-back, the Raptors are the play here. The Hawks have actually won three of five away from home, but they were against Milwaukee, Orlando and Philly. Toronto are a top four team the way the East is set out this season and while I don't think I would bet on them personally, I can see them covering the spread in this one, but just...
