The New York Knicks head to Atlanta on Saturday to face off against the Hawks.
The Atlanta Hawks are currently in third place in the Southeast division, having a record of 25-29 on the year. The record for the Hawks is far from impressive, but Atlanta has the benefit of being in the East this season, so the Hawks are still in playoff contention, currently holding the eighth spot. The Hawks have been in a tail spin lately, dropping their last eight games, including a tough loss to the Pistons in Detroit on Friday, 115-107. Saturday’s game against the Knicks will be the first in a two game home stand for the Hawks, a two game stand they would love to win to try and get back on track.

The New York Knicks can’t put this season behind them fast enough. The Knicks are just 21-34 on the year, which even in the East is not going to make the playoffs. New York has one of the worst offenses in the league right now, scoring just over 97 points per game. The defense is there for the Knicks, but New York just isn’t finding their offense outside of Carmelo. New York has dropped four out of their last five heading into Saturday’s meeting with the Hawks, with their last outing resulting in a loss to the Magic in Orlando 129-121 on Friday.
The Knicks are just 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games on the road, and the Knicks are just 3-8 against the spread in their last 11 following an ATS loss.
The Hawks are just 2-6 against the spread in their last eight games on Saturdays, and the Hawks are 2-7 against the spread in their last nine games when facing a team with a losing record.
I have to take the Hawks here. The Hawks just plain need this one more. Atlanta is struggling right now, and getting the Knicks at home is huge. Atlanta needs to take advantage of this opportunity to get back into the win column so look for the Hawks to be on their game here at home against the lowly Knicks.
