The Charlotte Bobcats and Memphis Grizzlies collide on Saturday night from the Queens City.
Head to head, the home team is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings. The Bobcats are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 home games and 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall, but just 16-39 ATS in their last 55 games playing on 0 days rest. The Grizzlies on the other hand 9-3 ATS in their last 12 road games, but just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 vs. Eastern Conference.
What's going on with the Charlotte Bobcats lately? They actually look like a decent team and if I had to put money it, I would bet they make the playoffs in the East, albeit in a very weak conference. With Al Jefferson and a stingy defence leading the way, the soon to be Hornets have won three straight and seven of 10 as they continue to climb up the Eastern Conference standings, overtaking a Atlanta Hawks team that has now lost eight straight. With some draft picks coming their way shortly and the name change taking place this summer, things are all of a sudden looking up in the Queen's City.
Charlotte will have their hands full tonight with a Memphis Grizzlies squad riding their own winning streak of four games following their 102-96 home win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night. Memphis has also won five of their last six games as they continue to establish themselves as a threat in the Western Conference. The Grizzlies are still on the outside looking in, currently trailing the eighth placed Dallas Mavericks by a single game.
You have to be impressed with this Charlotte squad these past couple of weeks, but the Grizzlies have been just as good, if not even better and they have covered in nine of their past 12 road games. I don't think the Grizz care where they play and while the Bobcats could very well come away with the win here, I just like Memphis that little bit more...
