The Minnesota Timberwolves look for three straight wins tonight as they travel to Salt Lake City to face the Utah Jazz.
Head to head, the Timberwolves are 3-7 ATS in the last 10 meetings and 2-6 ATS in the last 8 meetings in Utah and the road team is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings and the favorite is 9-3 ATS in the last 12 meetings. The Jazz are 0-4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400 and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games playing on 0 days rest. The Timberwolves on the other hand are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 road games vs. a team with a losing home record and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record, but just 13-27 ATS in their last 40 games playing on 2 days rest.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have only won 10 of their 27 road games so far this season, but they are 10-1 against the spread in their last 11 road games against a team with a losing home record, which is exactly what the Utah Jazz have. The Timberwolves have also defeated the Jazz at home this season 112-97, however, both Kevin Martin and Nikola Pekovic were playing in that game, which might not be the case tonight as they are carrying injuries.
In general, Minnesota has been a big disappointment this season, but they are coming off two impressive home wins over Denver and Indiana on Wednesday night by a combined 30 points. Meanwhile, the Jazz are coming off back-to-back losses at home against Brooklyn and in Portland last night, but they had won three straight before that loss against the Nets.
I don't love backing Minnesota on the road without Martin and Pek, but they desperatly need every win they can get if they have any hope of sneaking into the playoffs, which seems unlikely but still possible. Utah did just take down Miami at home recently, but they also play the Heat tough but they played on the road last night, while the T-Wolves haven't played since Wednesday. Going with Minny to pull out a close road win tonight...
