The Phoenix Suns head to Salt Lake City on Wednesday night to face the Utah Jazz in NBA action.
Head to head, the Suns are 1-3-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings while the road team is 3-1-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings. The Jazz are 4-1-2 ATS in their last 7 games playing on 1 days rest, 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a winning home record and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record. The Suns on the other hand are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games playing on 0 days rest, 19-7 ATS in their last 26 road games and 18-7 ATS in their last 25 games following a S.U. loss.

I like the Suns here for a couple of reasons. While Phoenix is coming off back-to-back defeats, with one of those coming last night at home to the Minnesota Timberwolves, you have to remember this is one of, if not, the best team at covering the spread in the entire NBA. This young up-and-coming squad has covered the number in 19 of their last 26 road games and you shouldn’t have any worries about them playing in the second of a back-to-back tonight as they are 7-2 against the spread in their last nine playing on no days rest.
While Utah did win the last meeting between the two in Phoenix, the Suns took the first showdown in Salt Lake City 112-101, so we know they can win in Utah. The Jazz are coming off a 110-98 victory over the Boston Celtics on Monday night and they should be nice and rested for tonight’s game, but their form overall hasn’t been that crash hot recently as they dropped their previous three games and their last home game before that win over the C’s was a 121-104 beat down by a Minnesota Timberwolves squad missing Kevin Martin and Nikola Pekovic.
The Jazz are very capable of winning this clash, but the Suns are flat out the better team here. I don’t really care that they are playing on the road and in the second of a back-to-back, just look at their against the spread stats in those two areas. There’s not much else to say really other than that I think Phoenix bounces back with a hard fought victory tonight...
