The Line: Houston Rockets -11 -- Over/Under: 216.5 See the Latest Odds
The Houston Rockets return home to face the sluming Detroit Pistons in prime time NBA action.
Head to head, the Pistons are 0-6 ATS in the last 6 meetings and 0-4 ATS in the last 4 meetings in Houston while the favorite is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings. The Rockets are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a ATS loss, 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games playing on 2 days rest and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games. The Pistons on the other hand are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 road games vs. a team with a winning home record, but just 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 17-35-1 ATS in their last 53 vs. Western Conference.
This is a tough one because there is no line currently out for this game, but I will be taking the over no matter what. As long as the line on the total isn't higher than 220 (which it won't be), i'll be taking the over for a myriad of reasons.
The main one being the Detroit Pistons. You have to realise that the over has hit in 41 of the Pistons 58 games this season, given their penchant to score a lot of points, but give up even more. Let's just take their last handful of games as an example. Detroit has given up an average of 111 points over their last six games and are coming off a game where they let the San Antonio Spurs pour in 120 big one's. Aside for Philly, this could be the second worst defensive team in the entire league. The over is also 21-8 in their last 29 road games.
Now the Houston Rockets are coming off just a 93-point effort against the Los Angeles Clippers of all teams, but it's not that shocking when you consider that was their fifth straight road game and third game in four nights. That was also their seventh road game in their last eight outings overall. Still, this team had put up some big totals during their recent time away from home which included a 129 outing in Sacramento and 134 outburst against the Los Angeles Lakers.
These two teams have already met this season and the game finished on 211 total points, now making the over 7-3 in their last 10 meetings.
I said I would take the over if it were 220 or less and that's what I'm doing. I'm not thrilled that Houston is cominf off a road trip, but thankfully they are playing the Pistons, so it shouldn't matter. Don't see much defense being played in this one..
