Paul George and the Indiana Pacers play host to the Utah Jazz on Sunday night.
The Pacers are 9-2-1 ATS in their last 12 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400, 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and 27-12-1 ATS in their last 40 home games. The Jazz on the other hand are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600, 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record and 5-2-2 ATS in their last 9 games playing on 1 days rest.
(please note, this was written before the Pacers game in Boston on Saturday night)
Despite struggling to put away the Milwaukee Bucks in their last outing, it's pretty hard to look past the Indiana Pacers in this one. Here is a team that has covered the spread in 27 of their last 40 games at home and are a 9-2-1 against the spread in their last 12 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse against teams with a road winning percent of less than .400. Two of their previous three wins at home were by 20 points or greater and plus, this isn't the same Bucks team we've seen all season long as they have covered the spread in eight of their last 10.
Meanwhile, the Utah Jazz had their two-game winning streak snapped in Cleveland on Friday night 99-79. Utah, who had averaged 107 points in their previous three contests, was held to just 79 points on 35 percent shooting against the Cavs, despite scoring 27 in the opening term. The Jazz have now lost five of six away from home by an average of 18 points per game.
I'm really struggling with this one to be honest. On one hand, if the Pacers lose in Boston tonight, then I could see them blowing out a Jazz team has struggled on the road of late. On the flipside, Utah should be nice and rested and they are coming off a very poor outing in Cleveland, so I expect a much better performance out of them tonight. Plus, the Pacers have not been good in the second of back-to-back this season. I'm going assume Indiana takes down Boston in a relatively hard match and that they defeat the Jazz tonight, but not by 13 or more...
