The New Orleans Pelicans travel to the Staples Center to take on the Los Angeles Lakers tonight.
The Pelicans have now lost eight straight since the All-Star break and will be looking to avoid their second loss in as many nights after falling to the lowly Kings by 96-89 last night. Tyreke Evans flirted with a triple double, scoring 27 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists, while Brian Roberts added 15 points, but the Pelicans needed more from Anthony Davis who scored just 13 points and Eric Gordon who added 10 points before fouling out. New Orleans has now lost nine of their last 10 road games to fall to 10-23 on the road and 10 of their last 11 overall to slump to 23-37 on the season.

Meanwhile, the Lakers have bounced back from three straight losses with a couple wins a row including a thrilling 107-106 win at Portland last night. Pau Gasol led the way with 22 points, nine rebounds and five assists, while Jodie Meeks added 21 points, but with the game on the line, coach D'Antoni turned to Wesley Johnson who made the game-winning dunk on an inbounds alley-oop play. The Lakers defied the odds by winning straight up as 12-point underdogs and they will probably be asked to do that a few more times over the next couple weeks as they play the Clippers, the Thunder (twice) and the Spurs (twice) in their next seven games.
In ATS trends, the Pelicans are 1-8-2 ATS in their last 11 games overall and 0-4 ATS in their last four road games, while the Lakers are 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 4-1 ATS in their last five games playing on zero days rest.
Head to head, the Pelicans are 12-4 ATS in the last 16 meetings in Los Angeles and the Over is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall.
The Lakers really impressed me with how they handled the Blazers on the road and I think they should be able to get another win against this slumping Pelicans outfit.
