Dwight Howard faced his former squad as the Houston Rockets travel to Orlando to face the Magic tonight.
Head to head, the Rockets are 0-8 ATS in the last 8 meetings and Rockets are 0-8 ATS in the last 8 meetings. The Magic are 9-1 ATS in their last 10 home games, but just 3-9-1 ATS in their last 13 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record and 2-10 ATS in their last 12 vs. Western Conference. The Rockets on the other hand are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games playing on 0 days rest.
I must admit, I had no idea whatsoever that the Orlando Magic had covered the spread in nine of their last 10 games at home. In fact, they have won seven of eight straight up, which includes victories over Oklahoma City and Indiana in back-to-back games, both also by a single point as well. They will have their hands full tonight however as they will be coming up against a Houston Rockets team that has been playing really good since the All-Star break, winning 12 of their last 14 and are coming off a 106-103 win over the Miami Heat at home last night.
While I would lean Orlando at this stage, I also have my eyes on the over, provided it's not too inflated. Everybody knows about the Rockets and their scoring prowess, but the Magic have been pretty solid in that respect too as they are averaging 105 points over their last five outings, mainly thanks to that triple overtime thriller against New York where they poured in 129. Still, the over is 9-4 in their last 13 home games and it's not like Houston is a defensive powerhouse as they have allowed at least 100 points in each of their last eight games.
Orlando getting eight points? Yes please...
