The Detroit Pistons head to Minnesota on Friday night to face off against the Timberwolves.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are currently sitting at the .500 mark on the season, having a record of 30-30. The T-Wolves are currently five and a half games back of the final playoff spot in the West, currently held by the Dallas Mavericks. Minnesota has an outstanding offensive attack this season, but the defense is lacking a bit and unless Minnesota can find a way to shore that up as the season draws to an end, I don’t see this team making up the necessary ground on the rest of the pack.

The Detroit Pistons have a record of just 24-37 this season, putting the Pistons in the ninth spot in the East. The Pistons are very much in the hunt for the playoffs in the East, as Detroit is trailing the eight seed Hawks by just three games. Even thought the Pistons are in the hunt for the playoffs, Detroit has really struggled as of late, dropping five out of their last six games, including suffering a loss to the Bulls in their last outing, falling 105-94 at home to Chicago on Wednesday.
The Detroit Pistons are just 4-1 against the spread in their last five games after suffering a loss, and the Pistons are just 3-7 against the spread in their last ten Friday games. Detroit is also just 2-7 against the spread in their last nine games following a double digit home loss.
The Timberwolves are just 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games at home, and Minnesota is just 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games when playing on just one day of rest. The Timberwolves are also 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games following a loss.
This is a ton of points to be giving up, but I have to take Minnesota here. The Timberwolves are clearly the better team, and while technically both teams have something to play for here, Minnesota knows this is a great chance for them to try and gain some ground.
The Pistons will likely hold close for the first half, but look for Minnesota to take over after the break, cruising to the easy double digit win at home.
