The Line: New York Knicks -6.5 -- Over/Under: 197 See the Latest Odds
The Utah Jazz head to New York on Friday to face off against the struggling Knicks.
The New York Knicks are currently in the 11th spot in the East, as 22-40 won’t get you into the post season, not even in the East. The Knicks are normally a very good home team, but this season, New York is just 12-20 at the Garden. The Knicks are solid defensively, but their offense is struggling, as New York is scoring just 97.7 points per game on average this season. The Knicks earned a win in their last outing, but still, New York has dropped seven of their last eight heading into this meeting with the Jazz.

The Utah Jazz had a brutal start to the season, and while Utah has played better as the season has gone on, the Jazz are still going to be missing out on the post season this year. Utah is sitting at 21-40 on the season, with a record on the road of just 7-24. Utah, like New York, plays decent on the defensive end of the court, but offensively the Jazz are one of the worst teams in the league this season, putting up just 94.6 points per game, with Hayward leading the way for the Jazz, averaging 16 per outing.
The Jazz are just 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games against the East, and the Jazz are just 1-4 against the spread in their last five games when facing a team with a losing record. The under is 9-1 in the last ten road games for Utah.
The Knicks are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games at home when hosting a losing team and the Knicks are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games against the West.
I know the trend for the Jazz is pointing to the under here, but I like this one to go over the total. I think the odds makers were a bit aggressive setting this low number, as neither the Knicks, nor the Jazz have much to play for at this point, so I look for the defenses to be a bit relaxed here, which should give us a higher scoring game.
