The Oklahoma City Thunder will finish up their two-game road trip with a visit to play the Los Angeles Lakers. This is the third of four scheduled meetings this season, and the Thunder have won the first two.
The Thunder head into this matchup a little shaky, losing four of their last seven games. That includes a 128-122 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Thursday. Since Russell Westbrook returned, they’re averaging 116 points on 50.9 percent shooting and allowing 108 points on 45.3 percent shooting. They’re also allowing teams to shoot an insane 44.6 percent from downtown. Remember, this is a defense that usually holds teams under 100 points on the season and doesn’t give up easy shots. On the road, they’re averaging 104 points and allowing 99.3 points. They are 34-27-1 ATS overall and 18-14-1 ATS on the road.

It’s the same song and dance for the Lakers, a team that’s lost six of their last eight games. In just their last five matchups, they’re averaging 115.6 points on 48.9 percent shooting, but are giving up a ridiculous 127.2 points on 52.8 percent shooting. Their lack of defense has really hit an all-time low, as they’ve allowed at least 132 points in their last three games. That pretty much sums up the Lakers this season. At home, they average 102.2 points and allow 106.7 points. They are 33-29-1 ATS overall and 14-15-1 ATS at home.
With the way the Lakers have played defense all season, you’d be insane to back them regardless of how many points they are getting. That’s why I’m going to side with the over.
The over has hit in seven of the last nine meetings between these two teams and is 4-0 in the Lakers last four home games. The over is also 5-1 in the Thunder’s last six.
As usual, there will be plenty of points in this one.
