The New York Knicks head to Boston on Wednesday night to face off against their rival the Boston Celtics.
The Boston Celtics are currently sitting at 22-42 this season, putting Boston in 12th place in the East. The Celtics are clearly in rebuilding mode this season as Boston cleaned house after last year. The Celtics are playing well defensively, but the offense has been horrible, putting up just 95.6 points per game this season. Boston has now dropped three out of their last five games heading into this meeting with the Knicks, but until Tuesday night the Celtics had won two in a row. Boston fell to the first place Pacers on Tuesday 94-83 in Boston.

The New York Knicks, like their rival the Boston Celtics are having anything but a memorable season. The Knicks are just 25-40 this season and are well out of the playoff hunt. Like Boston, the Knicks are playing well defensively, but the offense has been abysmal, ranking 21st in the league with an average of 98.4 points scored per game. The Knicks have been hot lately however, winning four straight heading into Wednesday’s meeting with Boston, with their latest win coming on Monday against the Sixers 123-110 in New York.
The Knicks are just 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games on the road, and the Knicks are just 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games against the Atlantic division. The Knicks are also just 1-4 against the spread in their last five road games against a team with a losing record at home.
The Celtics are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games when playing on no rest and Boston is 4-1 against the spread in their last five games at home. Boston is also 4-1 against the spread in their last five games overall.
Al l the trends here point to Boston, but I have to give the edge here to New York. The Knicks have been playing well lately, and while I don’t like giving up points with this Knicks team, I just can’t see backing the Celtics in this spot.
