The Indiana Pacers and Detroit Pistons will play their third of four scheduled meetings this season when they meet on Saturday. Both teams won a game earlier in the year.
The Pacers have bounced back from losing four straight with back-to-back victories, as they look to hold onto their best record in the East. During this shaky stretch, they’re averaging 92.4 points on 49.3 percent shooting but are giving up 100.6 points on 44.1 percent shooting. Certainly not Indiana basketball, as this is a team that holds teams to just 92 points on the season. The Pacers are 33-31-1 ATS overall and 14-17 ATS on the road.

The Pistons have now lost 11 of their last 14 games, and it appears they’ve mailed it in on the season. About the only bright spot on the team is Andre Drummond, who is averaging 14 points and 10.6 rebounds in his last five games. The lack of defense has haunted this team all season, as they’re allowing 103.6 points on the season and 105.4 points in their last five games. Scoring doesn’t help either, as they’ve lost their last five games when reaching the 100-point mark. They are 28-36-1 ATS overall and 15-20 ATS at home.
The Pacers are 3-14 ATS in their last 17 road games and 6-19-1 ATS in their last 26 games overall. The Pistons are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning percentage above 60 percent. The Pacers are 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings against Detroit, while the road team is 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings.
Assuming the Pacers are back on track, go ahead and eat the chalk. I just can't trust a team that plays no defense whatsoever to keep a game close against one of the top teams in the league.
