The Sixers head to Indiana on Monday night to face off against the Indiana Pacers.
The Indiana Pacers have been dominant this season, as the Pacers are in first place in the East, and have long secured their playoff berth. The Pacers are currently 49-17 on the year, and have one of the more dominant defenses in the league right now. Indiana currently holds a two game advantage over the Miami heat for the first spot in the East, but honestly it looks like it will be Indiana and Miami in the Eastern Conference Finals this season, so I’m not sure if the seeding matters all that much to them.

The Sixers have had a forgettable season for sure this year, as Indiana is just 15-51 on the year, and will be watching the playoffs from the comfort of their homes. The Sixers have one of the worst defenses in the league this year, allowing a horrible 110.8 points per game. Philly can put up some points at times, but with a defense like this you would need a truly dynamic offense to try and outscore opponents, and the Sixers just aren’t there.
The Sixers are just 2-10 against the spread in their last 12 games against teams with a winning overall record, and the Sixers are 1-5 against the spread in their last six road games against teams with winning records at home.
The Pacers are 4-0 against the spread in their last four Monday night games, but the Pacers are just 1-5 against the spread in their last six games following an outright win. Indy is also just 1-6 against the spread in their last seven games against teams with losing records.
This…is a ridiculous amount of points to be giving up. I fully understand giving the Sixers a big cushion, but I just can’t see giving up 20+ if you’re Indiana. Philly has held their own with the Pacers in the last few outings, and while I definitely think Indy cruises here, I’ll take this kind of cushion all day in the NBA.
