The Toronto Raptors head to New Orleans on Wednesday night to face off against the Pelicans.
The New Orleans Pelicans (still the worst name in all of sports) get set to host the Raptors on Wednesday. New Orleans is having a better season than in recent years, but still the Pelicans are going to be missing out on the playoffs this season. New Orleans is sitting at 27-39 on the year, which while that is an improvement, still the Pelicans are just in 12th place in the West. In their last outing, the Pelicans earned a win against Boston in New Orleans on Sunday night, 121-120 in overtime.

The Toronto Raptors are playing some real good ball this season, however looking at the East it’s almost a certainty that the Pacers and the Heat will be in the Finals. Still, that is not taking away what Toronto has done this year, and a big reason for their strong record is their defense. Toronto currently has the fifth ranked scoring defense in the league, holding opponents to an average of 97.2 points per game on the season. In their last outing, the Raptors fell to the Hawks 118-113 on Tuesday night in Atlanta.
The Raptors are 4-1-1 against the spread in their last six games against the West, and Toronto is 22-8 against the spread in their last 30 games against teams with a losing record. Toronto is however just 1-4 against the spread in their last five games when playing on no rest.
The Pelicans are 4-0 against the spread in their last four games when playing on two or more days of rest, and New Orleans is 5-2 against the spread in their last seven Wednesday night games.
I want to take the Pelicans here, but I just can’t. Toronto has owned New Orleans has of late, and even though this is tough sledding, traveling to New Orleans after a tough game the night before, I think the Raptors will have enough in the tank to get the win and cover here on the road.
