The Memphis Grizzlies and the Minnesota Timberwolves face off on Monday in Memphis in NBA action.
The Memphis Grizzlies sit in eighth place in the Western Conference and are hanging onto the final playoff spot by a half of a game over Phoenix. The Grizzlies are 7-3 in their last 10 games and they are coming off of an 11-point win over the Pacers on Saturday. Zach Randolph leads Memphis averaging 17.2 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. Mike Conley is averaging 17.1 points and 6.0 assists, Marc Gasol is averaging 13.8 points and 6.8 rebounds, and Tony Allen is averaging 10 points. The Minnesota Timberwolves have lost their last two games and are 5-5 in their last 10 as they watch their playoff hopes slip away. The T-Wolves are 6.5 games behind Memphis for the last playoff spot though the two have split their meetings this year with the road team winning each time. Kevin Love is the leader of the Timberwolves averaging 26.5 points and 12.7 rebounds per game. Kevin Martin is averaging 19.3 points, Corey Brewer is averaging 11.6 points, and Nikola Pekovic missed Sunday’s game with an ankle injury. Minnesota is averaging 106.3 points while shooting 44 percent and 34.3 percent from beyond the three-point arc while defensively they are allowing 103.1 points and their opponents shoot 47.1 percent. The Timberwolves are 15-20 on the road this season.
Memphis is 4-1 against the spread in their last five home games, 12-5-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 2-6-1 against the spread playing on one day’s rest. Minnesota is 1-5 against the spread in their last six games, 1-5 against the spread on 0 days rest, and 1-4 against the spread against the NBA Southwest. The favorite has covered the point spread in the last five meetings of these two and Minnesota is 2-7 against the spread in their last nine trips to Memphis.
Memphis has their backs to the wall and I expect them to leave it all o hte court and get the cover.
